Script Submissions
Script Submission Guidelines
Nightwood’s mandate is to propel women to the top of their craft in Canadian theatre. We forge creative alliances among women artists from diverse backgrounds in order to develop and produce innovative Canadian Theatre.
As such, we are very interested in reading work by both emerging and established female playwrights, creators, or collectives. However, before you submit your work to us, we do ask that you read and adhere to the following guidelines:
We accept:
• submissions from women only
• submissions from writers residing in Canada only
• submissions from September 1st to May 1st only
• one submission per writer per season
• submissions sent by mail only (We will not respond to fax or email submissions)
• submissions in many forms (They may be complete plays, works in progress or previously produced projects)
In your submission package, please include:
• a cover letter that contains your full mailing address, phone number and email address
• a short biography or resume of the playwright
• a brief synopsis of the script including its development and production history if applicable
• DVDs and support material if applicable
• a SASE envelope if you wish your script and support material to be sent back to you
We can not respond to unsolicited submissions unless we are interested in conversing further with the playwright nor can we provide a critique or dramaturgical feedback on these submissions.
