Nightwood Theatre has spent over 33 years celebrating women’s voices, propelling women to the top of their craft. In Canada, equity in the arts is still an issue. Did you know:

      • 72% of theatres in Canada are run by men.
      • Of the 1006 credited playwrights produced in Canada in 2010 only 288 were women. That is only 29%.
      • Only 33% of the plays produced are directed by women.
      • Approximately 70% of audiences attending the performing arts are women.
      • Nightwood showcased the works of 10 Canadian woman playwrights this year alone.
