Nightwood Theatre is seeking submissions from established and independent female directors to be included in The Canadian Women Directors Catalogue: A comprehensive list of Canadian Women Directors which will be launched by Nightwood Theatre and PACT.
Project Description
The Canadian Women Directors Catalogue: A comprehensive list of Canadian Women Directors is an opportunity for established and independent female directors to be included in a listing that will be distributed to the national professional theatre community. This initiative was motivated by the findings of Equity in Canadian Theatre – which brought to the fore the staggering disparity of opportunities for woman directors, playwright and artistic directors across Canada. By publishing this comprehensive list, we hope to create opportunities and raise awareness of the breadth and diversity of talent that women in the field of directing have today in Canadian Theatre.
Catalogue Selection Criteria
The catalogue will be divided into two catagories: Established Director and Independent Directors. Please Note: not all submission will be included in the catalogue.
Submission Requirements and Details
FOR ESTABLISHED DIRECTOR
• 3 full production credits with a PACT or equivalent company
• Asset: Post-secondary training in theatre studies
• Submit CV (no longer than 2 pages)
FOR INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR
• Minimum 2 years directing experience
• 3 directing credits- can include festivals (i.e Fringe, Summerworks, SuperNova, Uno, FemFest etc) but not workshops or readings
• Submit CV (no longer than 2 pages)
• Media clippings (optional)
