New play development is one of the cornerstones of Nightwood Theatre, and one of our greatest contributions to the performing arts community. Indeed providing dramaturgical support for women playwrights and nurturing scripts from first drafts through to production drafts is a specialized, time-consuming and necessary labour of love. Throughout our history, Groundswell, our play development initiative has seen remarkable success. We have shepherded projects by Morwyn Brebner, Sally Clark, Claudia Dey, Lisa Codrington, Florence Gibson, Ann-Marie MacDonald, Hannah Moscovitch, Djanet Sears, Sandra Shamas, Judith Thompson, Jean Yoon and many more.
