THE TRANSFORMATIONS PROJECT: dear ghost children by 錢嘉琪 | Karthy Chin with 林美智 | Amanda Lin (Video Design | Editing)

dear ghost children is a meditation on (fated/impossible) motherhood and (im)possibilities written while concussed.

This was written and recorded on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee, the Wendat, the Anishinaabe and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. I am the first of my family to have been born in, what we now call, Canada, on the Haldimand Tract, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Neutral People. I acknowledge all of these Nations and any others unacknowledged, acknowledged, recorded and unrecorded, who have taken care of this land and continue to take care of this land. I affirm my commitment to challenging the colonial systems that have caused harm, and that stewardship is our collective responsibility of those who reside on this territory.

dear ghost children was commissioned by Nightwood Theatre ( for the national Transformations project, hosted by the National Arts Centre of Canada. This project features work from some of Canada’s most innovative artists in video, audio and text. It is a response to a provocation by Canadian playwright David Yee, who asked everyone: “What would it take to transform our society for the betterment of all?”
