THE TRANSFORMATION PROJECT:In Bloom | On Fire by Neta J. Rose

“When you’re telling the wrong story, not even you can believe the ending” How do you imagine a future based on all the wrong assumptions? Actor, artist, and poet Neta Rose creates an ode to all the queer, trans, and gender non-conforming kids who couldn’t picture growing up or getting old.

This piece was written, created, and performed in Toronto/Tkaronto, on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, Wendat, and Mississaugas of the Credit River. Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13, and is subject to the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant. This land has long been a meeting place of many nations, trade routes, and peoples.

Language: English with English Subtitles

In Bloom | On Fire was commissioned by Nightwood Theatre for the national Transformations project, hosted by the National Arts Centre of Canada. This project features work from some of Canada’s most innovative artists in video, audio and text. It is a response to a provocation by Canadian playwright David Yee, who asked everyone: “What would it take to transform our society for the betterment of all?”
