Nightwood has collaborated with jeweller and multi-disciplinary artist Miranda Britton to create a collection of hand-made necklaces inspired by Nightwood’s seven core values: Feminism, Empowerment, Opportunity, Provocation, Inclusivity, Integrity, and Respect. In a time where the theatre community has been pushed to explore new ways to create and connect, we are delighted to share this brand new fundraising initiative.

As the holiday season approaches, you can support feminist art and artists by gifting yourself or someone you love with a custom-made piece that will be treasured for years to come — something to represent live art, and specifically what Nightwood has done for Canadian theatre, encapsulated in a cherished object.

Each stunning piece is handcrafted from sterling silver with an oxidized and brushed finish and is custom made to order at the artist’s studio in Muskoka, Ontario. Using only traditional hand fabrication tools, Miranda’s artisanship imbues each and every piece with its own unique story. Click here to learn more about Miranda Britton’s process.

Each piece includes a $150 charitable tax receipt for the donation portion, with the remaining portion of the fee going directly to the artist.

With your purchase of a necklace, we invite you to also honour a woman of your choice through the 10,000 Women Fund, which aims to celebrate the strength and brilliance of women everywhere. If you would like to have someone’s name added to our ever-growing list, or make a separate donation to the 10,000 Women Fund, please reach out to Erika at

Nightwood’s values are at the very core of each piece’s design – and we hope your necklace will inspire you to think of Nightwood, but also, to think of your own personal connection the word.

Click through to see images of the artist modelling each piece, with accompanying chain lengths. Pendants are worn on 17″-18″ chains in the photos, but can be ordered at any length between 16″ and 32″. Please note a $12 shipping fee will be added to each order.

We are committed to produce art that is driven by – and that gives voice to – the diverse society we live in.

Our theatre empowers audiences and artists alike by giving voice to varying perspectives, and offering opportunities for growth and a space to connect.

We promote intersectional feminist values and equity. We believe theatre is a potent vehicle to challenge historical and systemic power imbalances in all aspects of what we do.

It is critically important to operate with integrity, be truthful in our interactions and accountable for our actions.

It is our responsibility to create meaningful opportunities for women in our field, prioritizing folks with numerous intersecting identities. This value shapes our hiring practices, and the mentoring and sharing of knowledge with emerging talent in order to seed a new generation of Canadian theatre practitioners.

RESPECT – $300

All of our relationships, whether with artists, producers, employees, donors or audiences must be conducted with full transparency, open communication and an emotional intelligence that approaches human relationships with fairness and collaboration.

We use theatre to provoke a deeper conversation about the diversity of our lived experiences.
