It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we welcome you to Nightwood’s 45th Anniversary season – a season that promises three incredible shows, a workshop production, and our annual Groundswell Festival.
This year’s productions touch on political engagement, body sovereignty, power, presence, and transformation. Each piece centres on the journey of a solo protagonist willing to share themselves completely as a way to reach out – as an offering. This fiery vulnerability is best summarized in Amanda Wilkin’s beautiful words from her play Shedding a Skin, “Connection is an act of rebellion”. We are very eager to come back together with you.
And speaking of connection, this season also marks the launch of our brand new venue at 877 Yonge Street in collaboration with Tapestry Opera and St. Clare’s in January 2025! Nightwood’s new home will provide us with a shared office, rehearsal and performance space that we hope will become a beloved hub for artists and audiences alike – we are so grateful for our numerous supporters who have helped us achieve this incredible milestone.
We look so forward to connecting with you this year in the imaginative sphere through our productions, as well as in real life at our new space at 877 Yonge Street!
With love from all of us at Nightwood,
Andrea & Naz
