Some sad news/ good news today: We are sad to announce the departure of our Write From The Hip Program Director, Donna-Michelle St. Bernard.
Says Donna-Michelle about her departure, “I feel fortunate to have been brought onto the team at Nightwood during a time of vital change, and to be engaged in ongoing conversation about ways of welcoming in. Through my work with Write From the Hip I’ve learned about the craft of playwriting, the myriad magics of playwrights and a great deal about myself. For all of this I am grateful to Erum, Bilal, Shelley, Pesch, Rachel, Phoebe, Natalie, Anahita, Teiya, Celia, Nikki, Breton, Kit, Lola, Steph, Juliet, Merlin, Jillian, Poonam, Maezy, Whitney, Jan, Lara, Faly, Max, Jade.
I have loved the courage of these evolving artists who pushed through the hard part, or sometimes burned it down and started all over again. I have loved watching them show up for each other with generosity and vulnerability. I have loved watching them go out into the world and continue to be unstoppable, unsettling, absolute units. I look forward to being out here with them as colleagues. Kay, byeee!”
Thank you DM for all your hard work and as our WFTH alumni will agree, you have made such a difference to many artists during your time at Nightwood. While we are sad to say goodbye to Donna-Michelle, we are delighted to announce our new Interim Program Director, Keshia Palm!
Joining Keshia as this year’s Program Associate is Jan Alicia Jennings! You may recognize Jan as one of out 2022-2023 WFTH participants and we are delighted to have her back for another season!
